so i have decided to go with dual cases in the near future.
this is on a W56 tranny. will be using stock case gears and 21 spline setup.

plan on buying the adaptor kit and crossmember from marlin. what else do i need (other than driveshaft mods)?

i have a transfer case off a G52 trans, this is the same case as a W56 correct?

anything else i should look into?

the G52 trans will most likely be a forward shift case.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I think you'll need to get the parts to make it a top shift too.
I think that's it though.
You're going to do stock gears in each case then?

If/when I do that I'd like to do 4.7 gears in the rear case, stock in front. Just my thoughts.

i have a g52 and it's forward shift. i'm pretty sure you need the top shift case from a 22re tranny. or at least thats what marlin told me when i talked to him about doing dual cases on my truck.

alright, good to know. i can get a tcase off a W56 trans.

im going with stock gears for now for money reasons. sure 4.7's would be nice, but itll end up costing twice as much. i can always regear later anyways. and it'll be a hellova lot better than a single stock case.

plus when you run 4.7's you have to upgrade the spline on your transfer case which is $$.

That's the main reason I haven't done duals yet.
I already have a second case, but the money is no where near there. I'll continue having fun with the way it is for a while though!

why would you have to upgrade the spines?
the 4.7 set 21 spline is beefy... I just put a set in my wifes truck. single case.
with the forward shift transmission and a top shift case you can make the single case a twin stick easy.. My wife loves hers.

Last year I called up marlin b/c i was debating on doing dual cases, or getting 4.7 crawler gears, but in the end some other things came up and i wasn't able to get either lol. Anyway, he told me i would have to upgrade the input spline on my transfer case if i was to get crawler gears instead of dual cases, which was extra. But it looks like on the site that it's included in the kit, i just took his word for it.

Roll Me Over
Marlin recommends running 23 spline in the rear case whenever possible. Many, MANY people run 21 splines, but they have a higher instance of failure.

oh, and I am running dual stock cases in mine.
the only problem that I have is that the shop I had put them together didn't use marlin's adaptor, even though that is what I bought. I just found out about 2 months ago it is an AA adaptor. that is why it growels.
