That photograph is off the input shaft for the gears, it has nothing to do with which dual case adapter you use.

I see a lot of axle failures on the trail but rarely see any transfer case related failures in Toyotas regardless of which adapter or gears people are running. I have seen output shafts break in a few instances but these were generally in vehicles with 40" tires and guys that were dropping the hammer to try and climb something.
