Usually fine up to a 33" tall tire. Seems folks start breaking stuff when the go bigger. Plus the cost of lifting the truck to fit taller than 33s can go up quite a bit:

I've had many different brands of 35s and some 36" radial swampers on the IFS on mine over the past 9 years. I've still only replaced CV axles due to the boot getting torn. Open diff with 4.88s.

I only see mud here in south FL though, and it's a different kind of stress than people that have rocks to drive on.

i have had good luck with 35s and i may try some 36s (q78) in the future. i have only broken 1 cv and i think that was because it drooped too far and pulled the shaft out too far.

Been running 35Æs for over a year with no problems so far but I run mostly trails. I did upgrade the idler arm to a heavy duty one from Total Chaos and I carry a spare CV just in case. Btw: IÆm running 6ö suspension lift with 5.29 gears and locked in the back.

Look at the weight of the tires before you buy. I was looking at MTRÆs and ToyoÆs and the weight difference was around 29 lbs each. I went with the lighter tire, MTRÆs. My old post from last year here .

35's are ok if you are fairly easy on it, and dont mind fixing stuff occasionally.
i ran 35's on ifs for about a year, grenaded one 4.88 front diff, otherwise ok.

if the truck is going to get thrashed hard, you will break stuff left and right with 35's.

33's are relatively safe.
