I hate drum brakes. Ok, its out there now. Is there a quick easy bolt on that will work to put disc on the back. The dang drums NEVER stay adjusted on the 94, the dang E brake levers ALWAYS rust up and the E brake NEVER works when the levers rust up. I have tried packing the boots with water proof grease but it just waits until it gets cold in the winter to start freezing up again. I would like to get some nice easy, cheap rear disc on there. The truck is stick and I ask her to warm it up before she drives it but we need a block of wood to do that. One time, the SOB rolled out of the parking spot and sideways across the street, rocked back and forth a few times (it was snowing, I could see the tracks) before coming to rest across both lanes, creating a 1 mile backup in both directions before some one finally laide on the horn! I'm putting a turbo timer in the truck cause I know she will not spin it down when she parks, but the E brake MUST work! I hate drum brakes, did I say that?

For discs, Front Range has a nice full floating rear axle kit w/ discs. If you use the Supra calipers, you get the integral parking brake. Or try one of the t-case e-brake kits from a number of suppliers. Uses a disc brake on the t-case output flange for parking.

+1 on Front Range. There are cheaper but none finer. Nor stronger. I use an AllPro ebrake with the Front Range crossmember, with the larger more powerful '85 truck front calipers on the back.
I'm considering putting interior windshield wipers on my truck for the noseprints.

Any sorces for the mods? I like the idea of a calliper on the drive shaft for a daily driver park brake, but what would happen off road if an axle broke? BTW, love the nose print line, to funny!

That rear disc kit from all pro looks like what I want. Price is right too. I gave them a call to ask if the callipers have E brak provisions, they dont. All the guy that I got on the phone could tell me was They use front callipers off 82 GM Monte carlo. Wierd. You would think they would use a more modern rear disc calliper. Anyway, any one have this kit that can tell me the dia of the rotor, center to center of the calliper mount holes, and roter offset? My goal is to sorce another calliper with E brakes. I cant see paying $500 for a rear disc conversion only to have no e brake and have to pay an extra $300 for a X case E brake.

What year did the Tacoma get rear disc? Did it use the same rear as the 94?

Tacoma's don't have rear disks. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Late model 4runners do, but the axle housing ends of those are nothing like the older trucks, so the parts aren't compatible.

on the t case brake, its only for 4 cyl gear driven cases. So like me im screwed with my chain drive case. And What rotor would be used if i use a supra caliper with e brake. would the bracket bolt up using solid front rotors? or id have to make my own caliper bracket. I want e brake.

Max 85, thats a nice truck. Im not sure if my Xfer case is chain or gear drive. I would rather go with a full disc conversion. Right now Im thinking of getting the kit from all pro with out the callipers and fitting a set with E brakes. Looks like the 82 monte carlo and camaro use the same brakes and had the same size and caliper setup front to back 10.5". Im going to see if I can verify this and pick up a set up rear camarro or fire bird clamps. Ill get it to work, the hard part is the backing plates and those are in the allpro kit. Maybe I can work with them to get the "right" calipers in the kit.
