I ALWAYS use a gasket!!! I have NEVER used pooky! When using a gasket the cover will come straight off... The factory uses pooky and I have seen warped covers from idiots beating a screwdriver into the edge to get em loose.
Most times...as you indicate... the gasket can be reused.
