I agree with Jim for using gaskets anytime I can. However I found with the Chrysler 8.25" rear axle on my 99 XJ that a diff gasket was not available at the local Napa, so I just use some Permatex Ultra Copper, since it was higher temp than Ultra Blue. I haven't had a leak yet, but I sure would rather have a gasket in there too.
