to answer your question, you will now\t hear anything when valves need adjusting. As the engine gets older, either the valves begind to recess a litte ( no noise, but exhaust valves burn and leak) or they become a little loose- hence the ticky ticky when the engine is cold. Don't worry about it so long as your compressions are good and your performance isn't suffering. Most never get adusted.

Ive only seen a few 3.4L engines that needed valve adjustments, they were noisy cold as well as hot.


97 FZJ80, Stock, Factory Lockers.

Well mine are quiet at startup then once warm then the ticky tic tic starts also the oil pressure on the gauge is almost on the L.Think its time for an oil pump.

That is pretty normal idle oil pressure on a warm engine.
