Nice find <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> They don't look in bad shape either. Are you kidding? That truck with the front half missing is in nice shape??? Ok, you are probably talking about the fiberglass back, but if a person didn't know how rare those are, they would think you were nuts.

Considering thats about the 4th picture I've ever seen of a trekker, I think they are in good shape.

I'm excited. You know, lately I've watched 2 Trekkers sell on eBay and I had to restrain myself from bidding on them. The only way I could keep from bidding was to tell myself that these conversion kits were coming and the would be BETTER than the original.

Considering thats about the 4th picture I've ever seen of a trekker, I think they are in good shape. well bottom line .. I think so to <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .. otherwise I would have not bought them . it is NOT beyond repair , but a big job . I'm up for the challenge , and know I can do a good quality restoration/conversion , and make it back into a great unit , that will last a very long time .. I'm excited. You know, lately I've watched 2 Trekkers sell on eBay and I had to restrain myself from bidding on them. The only way I could keep from bidding was to tell myself that these conversion kits were coming and the would be BETTER than the original. I now see the quality of these pieces , and I know now .. mine will be better . I'm totally excited . <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

In my town there is a kid that drives a Trekker. He just got it. It is the only one I have seen in person and I haven't seen many on the net either. It is beat up but not rusted which is rare in Minnesota.(The unrusted part)
America's first fourwheel drive was built in Mankato, MN by Ernest Rosenburger in 1908 who founded Four-Traction Auto Co. on Hickory Street. The company though successful closed in 1913.

I don't get it? It looks like my pickup with the fiberglass topper (camper shell, bed cap, ect) and those are a dime a dozen. Okay, okay, so if I recall correctly the interior is open through to the back of the bed like a first gen 4runner and it's on a short wheelbase and they only made them in 1983. Am I missing anything else? Kudos for working to preserve our Toyota 4x4 heritage. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker501/HPIM0049.JPG) my truck ran flawlessley ![/quote] NICE PICTURE. The west is the best! My '84 is running flawlessly as well, now that is has the '89 22RE EFI in place. I couldn't be happier about how it's worked out. .

It is NOT a "first" gen 4runner .. as they say!!! it IS the very FIRST GEN 4runner ..Toyota market SUV test .. it has history . I see it as a "classic" .. very limited #'s .. I'm sure i'm not the only one . In fact , I'll bet .. a few years from now .... well we'll see I guess .

Yes, I'm picturing one right now with a 3RZ-FE motor transplant and a W56 tranny. <BTW> I saw one, new, sitting at Bighorn Motors (Toyota dealer) in Glenwood Springs, Colorado around 1982 or 1983. That's the last one I've seen that i can remember. Best wishes on your project. Friends of Ron Paul
