man that sure is a nice looking parts truck.I like that style(early 80s) .Allmost a shame to see it choped up.I saw a tv show a few weeks ago where they were making a Toyota rock crawler. They used the engine ,tranny and axels and trashed the rest of the truck. They called the finished product a Toyota but you couldnt tell.At least yours will look like a toyota.I have enjoyed following this thread.I really like the older toyotas keep up the good work and thanks for sharing the pics.

I'd think of it this way.... by sacrificing this one or 2 trcuks, think of all the ones that will be saved in the future by using the products that come out it...

so I still have my trekker .. but someone saw what I was doing , and asked if i would consider doing a 1 off long bed Trekker for them .. so I started to cut and glass . ok ... here is the bottom of the tub ... extended . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/HPIM0274.jpg) EVERY piece of metal in the bed was rotten .. there was only a couple of pieces left .. This was the WORST failed part of the whole unit ... 22G Original .. I replaced with 14G ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/HPIM0273.jpg) and top side ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/HPIM0272.jpg) The bed sides have now also been extended ... inside is now complete .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/HPIM0268.jpg) still have to "work" the out side Just cut the topper/canopy .. and ready to find some new side glass , and bond the to pieces together .. then its time to do the final outside prep. .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/HPIM0277.jpg)

so got to work on the topper/canopy .. cut and now "loosly" spliced .. I started looking at the bolting strips .. Man , they are just a balsa wood material .. I dont know what the hell , but totally trashed .. so I stripped them out as well ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0310.jpg) fell out in pieces , no wonder the roof bounces like a drum ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0312.jpg) NEW ones I made from spruce . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0313.jpg) ALSO every piece of steel (22G) was TOTALLY rotten .. so I replaced with 14G and also ZINC'd them , so NO more rust ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0314.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0315.jpg) and now its ready .. ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0316.jpg) and finished the inside . ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0317.jpg)

ROUGH window fit ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0326.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0327.jpg)

I dont know what the hell , but totally trashed .. If they are just balsa, they they were only there for stiffening. It is either that or they were some other wood that rotted. Replacing with spruce will be much better. - Bryan
