Shouldn't the pump cycle when you just turn the key on for a few seconds


Test jumper pins may be in the diagnostics box on the later engines (passenger side fender, B+ and FP pins) instead of a separate connector on the driver's side like the '85 has.

And yes, pump normally won't start until you hit the starter, that is normal (unless you ahve the test jumper installed).
