Need a Spot
Hey just got my Taco 2 weeks ago and I have been searching for some off road products to start building it up. I was wondering if there is anyone else building rock sliders, Front and rear bumpers, and such than N Fab, All Pro Off Road and ARB. I am trying to find some rock rails similiar to the one's that ARB produces with the diamond plating on the top. But found out they are not producing them for the newer Tacos. I need them to function as a decent step for my girlfriend as well as protect the sides. I don't like how N Fab's step hangs down it seems like you could get hung up on them and All Pro don't seem very functional as a step. Also I am not quite sure I want another ARB winch bumper on this truck. I had one on my 98' Montero Sport and it just weighed down the front and I never got use of the winch. I don't intend to go wheeling as extreme as I use to in my Sport ( This is the same CoSport as the one that owned the 98' Black Montero Sport with yellow bumpers in case anyone cares) but would like to customize it a bit and get back up to the mountains. The All Pro bumper looks great but has a bit too much steel plating on it. I was just curious what other sites I am missing and I wanted to say HI

Look at Shrockworks and DeMello Off Road for bumpers and sliders. There are also many fabricators that could do custom work as well.

Welcome to the world of slow parts development. This generation Taco doesn't seem to have gathered the interest of the off road fabricators as much as the FJ has...

Hey, great to see you on the forums again! It's been at least a few years since we've seen each other. My 4Runner probably looks about the same as when you saw it last. Nice to see you have a Toyota now. The rate of aftermarket development for Toyotas really does seem to be faster than for Montero's. There's a LOT of Taco owners interested in aftermarket mods. My bro still has his Montero Sport (with a crummy gear ratio).

Sorry I can't help much with the bumper question. The guy who built my custom aluminum bumper sort of disappeared.

In my opinion, you can find a better solution for your desires than All-Pro sliders.

Just one possibility for you to check into is Off-Road Solutions since they are local and do mostly Toyota work. They do list both round-tube and square-tube sliders on their web site for Tacomas. They do custom work too, so I'm sure you could customize it how you want. (Their 1/4" wall tubing really seems overkill and would be very heavy though - you might see if they'd use either 1/8" or 3/16" if you go the custom route). Square or rectangular tube would be better for steps.

Thanks for the additional info. I am looking forward to get out a least a couple of times this year. Had fun with the 4 wheel drive in our ice storm a couple of weeks ago.
