the only shocks that will work with the factory switch are the factory VSA shocks and they are very expensive to replace. you don't need to unplug control module behind rear trim panel b/c it is a PITA (see the post on replacing rear speakers, it is not an easy task). you can just leave it like it is, the light on your dash will still light up and switch will still work the lights, but it just won't do anything b/c when you take out your old shocks, they have to be unplugged from factory wiring harness (you will see a plug connector about 2 feet from the top of shock where you can disconnect them; the factory shocks have about 2 feet of wire or so attached to the activator). that is all you need to do, disconnect wiring harness at each shock and put your new ones in. if you want the light on your dash to go out, pop your switch out and unplug it, it won't allow power to go to dash lights.
