You need to lube the poly bushings - lube won't hurt them. Just about any lube will do, but I found that a spray can of silicone lube works best for me.

Douch the bushing with the lube. partially insert it in the eye of the shock, and squeeze it in with a vice. Shortly after you put pressure on it in the vice, the bushing will pop right into the eye.
