Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just installed my my new header and replaced my entire exhause except for the head pipe.
(WHAT A PAIN)
My question is this, I went to the parts store to get a flange gasket. The one I have is round and tapered and fills up the space where the old manifold fit the head pipe. The part that the guy gave me was a square with 4 holes in it????

Is that for the old style manifold? My header fits just like the manifold does and looks pretty darn similary cept it's now harder to get the bottom bolts in. (imagine that)

anyhow what is that square gasket for? The rest of my exhaust is all clamps.

The one you describe having is what I call a "biscuit" That is what I have used on all Jeeps. The biscuit allows some leeway in the angle of the connection and allows some flex while keeping the exhause inside.
Take the old one to the parts house and get nother one just like it.

I did that and they were clueless. I got the old one in there now but it's easy to remove if needed.

I'm still curious what the sqaure one was as it came with the felpro kit.

Body Damage is Cool
If they're clueless, try a different parts house. If all else fails, buy a sheet of gasket material and make one yourself.

Bob...good idea.. I make many of my own gaskets from sheet stock!
However the one he is asking about MUST be a factory one as it is bout 5/8 inch thick and pressure formed.

Need a Spot
I went to the summit racing website and searched for "exhaust donut" and it came up with things that look like this:
[Linked Image]
Is that the part you need?

Chris
