Need a Spot
I have a 1988 YJ with an automatic and I've been told that a CJ Dana 300 will mate right up to the auto. Has anybody done this? What other work is there involved with this swap? Obviously I'll need a front axle with a drivers side pumpkin... It looks like the Dana 300 hangs down, do I need to make changes to the skidplate? Does the Dana 300 bolt to the skid plate the same way the NP231 does? Will the shifter(s) come out in a good place? If anybody's been there and can shed some light I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!
Chris

may things "can" bolt together, it becomes a question weather we "should" though.

1) you already have a drivers drop front axle, and a 300 is a passenger.
2) don't even think of those junk "flip kits" to make a 300 work up side down. JUNK.
3) what are you doing that the 231 won't?

No, nothing other than the fit to the tranny is a bolt up.
Shifter, floor mods, mouting to skid plate mods,.

The worst part is spline count on diffrent d 300s and spline of the tranny make it so you have to take it all apart and count teeth to varify if it would bolt up.

YJs are designed for a drivers drop case and front axle, so even if you swap front axles, it is no lock that any part will be easy.
