I too find the Glock 27 to be the best compromise for concealed carry. I can carry 11 rounds of .40 (with a neat mag extension that makes holding the gun easier), which is more firepower than a .357 Mag in a package about the size of a snubnose revolver.

A while back, I bought a Kahr PM40, which was a really neat gun, in a super light, super small package. 6 rounds of .40. But the Kahr has reliability issues, so it gathers dust in my safe now.

I think for pure simplicity, pure reliability, you can't beat a revolver. You know for sure it will go bang and even if the bullet misfires, you don't have to do anything but pull the trigger and it will go to the next bullet. For most situations, 5 or 6 rounds will be enough, and 5 rounds is better than none. I don't own one, but someday I'd like to pick one up.
