Yes, yes they are.
That's part of the appeal.

I carried a S&W 5-shot stubby a few years back and it's a great little gun, but 38cal, 9mm, and 357mag tend to over penatrate if you are not careful about your bullet selection.
I now carry a RAP-440, which is a Republic Arms compact 40cal in all blue-steel, it is a great gun and about the size of my hand. Seven shot, verry accurate at 25 meters, and with Gold Dot ammunition it is very effective.
It is a great gun if you can find one.

Thanks fellas. My concern here is pocket carry, and reliable multiple firing from within...hence an automatic probably wouldn't be choice-o numero uno.
Thanks for the input. Keep it coming!

Pocket carry? seriously? like sticking it in your pocket? I would be much much much more inclined to use a holster. Shoulder, IWB, belly band.... so on. There is an awesome site about CCW for chicks. lemme go find it. BAM Cornered Cat This chick is pretty cool. Has a good non eye bleeding site, and knows whats up.

Not pocket carry all the time, but I'd like the option if at all possible, sure.

No. But when you have to actually use one and it goes bang like it's suppose too, it's best looking firearm ever made in human history.

I carry my S&W 37-2 (.38spl +P) just about every day. In the summer I'll pocket carry in my cargo shorts with a Desantis Nemesis holster. With jeans or pants with non-cargo-sized pockets, I use a cheap Uncle Mike's IWB. The thing disappears completely. The hammer is factory bobbed, as opposed to the entirely shrouded 642/442. But there's no IL on mine. I have repeatedly dry-fired it inside a jacket pocket and haven't had the hammer snag on anything, although that wouldn't be the preferred way for me to shoot it if I had the time to draw out of the pocket. I keep it stoked with either the 135gr +P Gold Dots (short barrel load) or the "FBI load" of 158gr +P LSWCHP from RemFedChester. Within the FBI load, some say the Remington version has softer lead and expands better. I don't feel undergunned with 5 shots of either of the above, and I always carry at least one reload on a speed strip or speedloader. I have no experience with Taurus, but lots of people like their 85(?) which seems pretty equivalent to the S&W airweights. Whichever small frame wheelgun you get, the DA pull and the short barrel means that you will need some practice to develop your marksmanship with it. So get to work!

I can nearly match Landraider's photo, a S&W #60 with Herrett's Shooting Star stocks and a Taurus #85 with factory "banana" stocks; both guns are .38 Specials. Boot grips and "banana" style grips for both the above guns. ![[Linked Image]](http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/15/15729/folders/144233/10212298210grips.jpg)

yes the G19 are hideous...the 21s arent bad...
went shooting an hour ago...im dissapointed with my XD shoots to the right consistantly, ill have to try some non white box ammo and see how it goes, my rear sight is a bit to the left, not by much, annoying however, id like to think im not that bad of a shot, shooting from 25+ yards and missing a 3" target 50%

I like my Browning Hi-Power, but there are times other pistols need some attention. Not the smallest, but a S&W Model 36-1 Chief's Special .38cal with a 3" barrel suits my needs for a small, lightweight piece - alternating hollow points and wad cutters will do plenty damage and it's very accurate: ![[Linked Image]](http://i84.imagethrust.com/t/918977/img3477.jpg) Then there are times I feel like carrying my Grandfather's pearl-handled .32cal S&W (a real hair trigger special and very loud 6-shooter): ![[Linked Image]](http://i84.imagethrust.com/t/918989/img3480.jpg) Or - if I'm not feeling too terribly threatened, I might take this one: ![[Linked Image]](http://i84.imagethrust.com/t/918990/img3481.jpg) Or - for just plain target practice, maybe this one: ![[Linked Image]](http://i84.imagethrust.com/t/918991/img3482.jpg) Frank
