Looking for some advice on trying to find out why my power mirrow switch is not working. Its a 93 4runner. I have replaced the actual switch and that isn't the problem. I have looked for a fuse but can't find one that is listed for the mirrors. Everything else works on the door panel (switches) its just the mirrow one that quit.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to look? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Check the wiring harness where it goes in from the body into the door; that's a high-wear area. Common in the older trucks/cars.

We also have a '93 FSM sticky'd in the early trucks section that would have the wiring diagram for ya.

Thanks for the direction. The online manual was too old of a truck and it didn't mention power mirrors.
Will check out the door wires and report back. i'm thinking though that it is further inside the system like if there was a fuse or something but I can't find any listing for a fuse.

I took that whole thing apart and cleaned it out. Put a little grease on the ball joints and had it turning in no time.

You took the switch apart or the mirrors?
I tried a new switch and that didn't work and since both mirrors don't work, I assume its deeper. Did you find a fuse in this system?
I also checked where it goes in through the door but thats ok, so...
The manual says that there is a connector in the bottom left hand kick panel. Maybe corrosion in there? I'll look there next but the darn security box is up in there so will have to take that out first. Ugh.
anyone got anymore ideas?

My 1995 4runner the mirror is powered off of the 7.5 amp Radio fuse. According to schematic.

Do you know if you have power at the switch? If both mirrors are failed then I would focus troublshooting on things common to both mirrors first.

See this link from the 1993 FSM stickied on the early truck forum. It is very detailed and includes troubleshooting tips/procedures.

Awesome, that looks like what I'm looking for. See that junction block, I'll bet is where my problem is. Now to get to it!!
Where did you find this sticky thing with the schematics?
Thanks again

I took the mirror assembly apart and cleaned out the cob webs. It worked only briefly once i bought it but hadn't again for months. I checked the fuses and they were all good. So I checked the circuits and cleaned the crud off that too. But just some grease in the joints got it moving again.

Thanks everyone for their help. I bit the bullet and dug into the wiring betwen the door and the junction block. sure enough the positive and the ground wire had broken. Soldered back up and everything works.
Thanks again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
