anyone here ever try using acetone in their gas to see if it will increase gas millage? they say that if you mix 2oz of pure acetone with every 10 gallons of gas you will see a increase in fuel economy and lower emissions. they claim the acetone reduces the surface tension. my brother said he used it in his 86 monte carlo ss and went from 11.9 to 13.5 mpg. hes the only person ive known thats tried this so i wondering if anyone here has and what their results were

Lots and lots of folks have tried not only acetone but many other products.. Them that are truthful all say no change. THINK ABOUT IT! If that small amount of acetone would help in milage why wouldn't ONE COMPANY add it to their complete stock? Myths like this one amaze me. A million gasoline engineers are trying to find better milage and some goof on a website says "add this and it will give better milage".. Always is bunk. i spent some time looking it up and everyone said not to use it in some forein car because they have synthetic lining on the inside of the gas tank that acetone deteriorates so that might be the reason why gasoline companys dont put in there, also desiel drivers said they saw a decrease in black smoke when they used it, i will be trying it this week and i will tell you my results

2 oz of acetone in 10 gallons of gasoline will not deterate anything that the gasoline itself wont. Have a good test before and after adding it. Big Jim

My 2.5l is a gas-hog, period. I just don't care if I can increase my mileage by a mile per gallon or so. What the heck is that saving me? I won't notice any more money in my wallet OR in my bank account. If I cared about gas mileage I wouldn't be driving a Jeep.
Maybe we should concentrate on those who are responsible for the ridiculous gas prices to begin with. The price of the barrel goes up on monday, and on tuesday gas prices have increased substantially. The price of the barrel goes down on monday, and the price of gas doesn't go down for a month. Meanwhile, oil executives are retiring with 300 million-dollar retirement packages. I keep wondering when America will wake up. As a history major, it's an excrutiating experience. People NEED to inform themselves!!! An informed citizenry is the greatest threat to those who insist on financially raping the working class of OUR country!!!

Your 4:11 will be GREAT with 26/28 inch tires... You are waaaaay over geared for 33's! Change the gearing and you will LOVE the ride. Big Jim
