I purchased a HID kit off of Ebay recently and just got them fully installed this evening. The kit consists of the bulbs, ballasts, and wiring. I also got a set of Hella European-spec. glass headlights with the auction.

[Linked Image]

The kit is designed to be "plug and play" but the wiring in my 20 year old truck wasn't up to the task so I made my own wiring harness. After that is done it's just a matter of mounting the lights and plugging everything in.

[Linked Image]

I will add more photos of the wiring and where I mounted the ballasts tomorrow when I have some daylight.

So how did it work? I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

that's awesome! I wanted HIDs for my 89 lwb but couldn't bring myself to spend that much. I did order a pair of Delta Tech xenon H$ headlights, my dad has them on his wrangler and they are much brighter and have a slight blueish tint. Still not as nice as yours but they are only like 60 bucks from the quadratech catalog.
BTW, how much were yours.

I've been looking/ checking out e bay for HID kits too. Looooooking good. Still debating on which kit to check out. I would like to have low and high beam. What brand is yours? how much if you dont mind me asking and what Kelvin is it? I think anywhere from 6000K- 10000K is the "xenon" look from those high end luxury cars, so I was thinking of 8000K. More info!

I think I paid $180, but that was from a Jeep owner that was getting rid of the parts. If I had paid retail prices the kit and lenses probably would be over $300. The kit is a no-name Chinese brand and from what I understand the Japanese built kits are better. You pay extra for quality, but maybe I'll get lucky and these will last the life of the truck.

I have the basic Xenon kit, the Bi-Xenon kits are what you need for both the low/high beams. Since Xenon bulbs don't change their brightness with changes in wattage like Halogen lights, the Bi-Xenon bulbs use a movable reflector that focuses the lights for low beams and spreads the light out for high beams. So it's another thing that adds cost and complexity to the kit.

I believe my bulbs have a color temp of 6000K, it the standard white/blue color you see most often. It's actually the color temp that provides the most light. Lower than that and the light becomes more yellow, higher and they go more purple. The further from 6000K you go the lower the light output.
