I was doubting the part about removing the grill and radiator support, but I did it anyway. Now I understand why you have to do it.

Yeah, it took about 4.5-5 hrs total. ...and that included the time to make a tool to keep the water pump/pulley assembly from turning while I separated the clutch fan.
Knowledge is a powerful tool! That's why I asked before attempting the repair.
