I used this style. It's actually a pitman arm puller but it worked PERFECTLY

it worked WONDERS. Totally either buying or renting that again. I have a charge acct @ napa so I charged the whole suspension servicing kit (176.00 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />) to my account and then returned it today.

I REALLLLLLLLLLLLYYY recommend using that puller if you're doing lower balljoints.

This is the style BJ puller I already have, and it didn't work at all for this application. Just can't fit it in there.
