Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am in the process of trying to lift my 88 toyota p/u. Are 3" body lifts ok for my truck??? Or will I have to move and modify anything!! I am really wanting to put 34" or 35" tsl's on my truck!!! Do you think they will clear on this much lift, or is more needed?? I live in florida (no rocks) so I need something for mud.. Any input will be appreciated!!!! I am working on a budget, so I really want to stay away from suspension for now. Also do you think I will have to cut my truck in anyway??? I will be running a 9.5-10.5 tire on a 8" rim. I know I don't have a lot of power, so I am trying to get the width down.

Read all about the install process on the page below:

Probably will need a bit more lift or fender trimming to clear the tires, but try it and see.

I have a 2" body lift and 34" Swamper LTB's on my '88 4Runner. The hardest part with lifting the body was lengthening the steering shaft to the steering box. The front hard lines for the brakes have to be moved around to make up for the lift. With 2" it didn't take much but with 3" you might have to unclip them from the body. The tires rubbed on the fenders and fender wells a bit so I just trimmed the fenders and hammered back the inner fender well.

i kind of thought 3" might be a little too much... I don't want to have to move a lot around. Now nobody makes any body lifts that come with the extention for the steering??? As you can see, I am new to this... I know some say they come with "EVERYTHING" needed. Is this a joke???

I just remembered one thing about the 2" lift is the filler hose for the gas tank does not have to be extended. The steering shaft is two parts, one inside of the other; this makes it collapsible in an accident. You just have to drive out a small pin and pull the shaft longer and drill a new hole to put the pin back in.

2" sounds like a better option!! Anyone know what is the largest tires I can put on my 88. I am guessing 31 x10.50??? even though i would like bigger ones. i have a lot of questions being new to this. Can anyone point me in the direction of what size tires are stock on this truck (mine are different sizes) and where I can calulate what gears i will need with new tires??? I tried the search on here, but it doesn't seem to work very well (or it could be user error)

First person to respond to your initial post; Roger Brown, aka 4Crawler. Makes the best body lift kits in the industry, IMHO.
