Hey count me in, I want to do it again. And this time I have a good starter and fixed the beadlock problem. Now lets see if I remember on how to dry camp.
I do have orange strobe light that we can setup at base camp and run at night time if somebody is going to leave their rig behind, let me know if I should bring it.
Things I'll remember to do this time is make sure everything is strapped down, I didn't think I was going to get any air!
I'll try for a Friday night drive up. Anyone going from the High Desert region?
I do have CB and ham radio/FRS
Also I don't know if it mentioned already but make sure you guys mount your whips, can't get on the beach without and no screwing around in the water cops will bust you.
See I'm giving up my MayMadness event in Pharump to go wheeling.
If anybody needs any Amsoil stuff brought up PM me.
The countdown begins.

Rory,
Sounds great. Thanks for the good info on what to expect there. I think it's a good idea to have the flashing strobe running on Friday Evening for those coming in late (like myself).
Also, please PM me your cell phone number so I can include it in the trip sheet I've been sending out to all the attendee's.
As for the jumps... LOL, yes everyone you will possibly catch air and even a short jump can upset things inside your rig that aren't tied down (even if they're very heavy) so please secure all items!
What I'm thinking of doing is bagging stuff in my rig then putting them in a duffel bag that's tied to one of the tie downs.

How easy it is to get stuck out there? Are open diffs going to be a problem?

We'll likely all get stuck in the sand to some degree but that's why we're going as a group. Nobody will be left behind or stranded.
As for traction aids in deep sand, having an Open diff, lsd, lockers, there's not much difference IMHO. The key is keeping the body off the sand (i.e. minimum drag/friction).
You can do this by airing down your tires to create as large a footprint as is safe (depends on tire size and construction).
Don't worry, at the beach we can discuss safe driving technique. If I forget, just bring it up.

Oh yeah, and I'm bringing my shovel! I've done enough hand scooping at Pismo to last me a life time, and from experience I know that the foot drag doesn't work very well for digging vehicles out!

we have found that getting some speed up and keeping it helps...4x4 helps the most...mostly 2wd vehicles or overloaded 4x4's that get stuck.... BRING WOOD! they sell wood at $5.00 for a small bundle that doesn't last long enough to satisfy. BRING WOOD! oh...and by the way...i had something special made up just for this run...only attendees will get one from me...and i won't say what it is until we are all together on the dunes... .
