At Pismo you never get stuck on the flat area. Even with 235's tires I was able to run around the whole place with open diff's. You will get bogged down going up the dunes, back STRAIT down and try again or go around, that is the fun part.

Vic,

Any news on the vote?

Yes momentum is your friend in sand. The skinny pedal is also your friend until you loose forward motion... then it will just dig you in.

UPDATES
In addition to all the attendee's from the 4x4wire forums...

My buddy Chris is also probably coming for Saturday. Some of you will remember him from my last December 26 2005 run at Holister Hills SVRA where several of us had damage including myself (nearly tore off my roof rack). Poor Chris had flat tire issues, had to replace two of his doors (major dents), had to replace broken suspension components, and still has rocker panel scars.

My contact at Mitsu is also checking if any of their guys want to attend so perhaps we'll have some Factory representation there as well.

Looks like this is gonna be a decent trip. I'm really looking forward to meeting you all there!

The boss (wife) said yes, so my son and I are planning on coming. I may be able to get a certain someone from L.A. to come as well, so we'll see. Is anyone else bringing young'uns? My 9 y/o is asking...

So I just got done ordering new ARB coils and custom Steel braided brake lines for my rig. The coils will give me about 4in. of lift, currently im sagging at 2-2.5in.

Whats left to do is a new trans pan gasket seal. Figure out the fuel problem (pump or sending unit), check my fan clutch and identify the overheating problem, and install a Perma-cool fan w/ manual fan switch.

Ohh and I might need to service my rear diff. The LSD didn't feel like it was engaging while "testing" in the rain a while back.

With about 3 weeks to go, I hope I can afford all the needed repairs and have time to install the new parts.

I'll keep you updated!

-Ashby

PS: To add to the list of pre-trip prep: Check for good tow hook points. You will most likely get stuck (don't worry, its not as bad as it sounds) so having good points to attach straps to is key. I like to use a receiver shackle like the one on this Parts Site I also use like to use screw-pin D-ring shackles for the front on the exisiting tow loops, like these Both are relatively inexpensive and highly functional.

Also like mentioned above, snatch straps not tow straps!

Thanks, I'll let him know. Rory, bring that kid, brother. Mine is really good with the younger ones. He loves his Dad, but I know he'll get bored with just me around.
