I'll always prefer the 2nd gen pickup... come on... back to the future, need not say more. it'll always be my fav mini truck... i want to build a bttf truck in a few years....
I know what you mean about the BTTF truck. After I totaled my '82 in '90 I was in need of a new truck for work, not the Celica that I had intended on buying. I went looking for the 2nd gen style since I really didn't care much for the softer look of the 3rd gens, not to mention the price for a new 3rd gen in 4x4 and an X-cab was around $21k(over $32k today). However when the dealer I negotiated a new Celica from said I could have my '90 X-cab for the same price of $15k, (only about $3k more than a used 2nd gen), the 3rd gen styling was nolonger an issue. After having the '90 X-cab for 17 yrs now and after rebuilding/driving several 2nd gens, I am glad I bought the '90. The 3rd gen styling has held up well over the years, and still looks better than the Taco's and their funky fenders.
Useless radio spot? Not for me, but i have long arms...
I sat shotty in my buddies 90' pickup and the seat goes back WAY farther than my 89 4runner, but it might be a pickup thing.
The trucks do have more leg room than the Runners, not just betyween 3rd gen truck and 1st gen Runner, but between same body styled Truck and Runner. The 2nd gen X-cab I am rebuilding has more leg room than the '86 Runner I rebuilt 2yrs ago, and my '90 has more leg room than my Sisters's '95 Runner had. Had Toyota used the long wheel base frame for the Runners rather than the std. frame, the leg room would have been so diferent.
