Lots of web info on this swap.. Pretty common and well documented and you can use existing driveline as people make adapters.

I'm not a fan of GM TBI, although it is better than a carb, it's just a mild step up. Get the port injected VORTEC motors. Just do your research, as mentioned all the odds and ends do add up to real money.

If you are going to swap a non toyota engine might as well go with the small block Chevy 350. I swapped a 91 small black 350 into my 82 D-50 4x4. Spent about $1,300 doing it, including the adapter, engine, transfer case and tranny. I just did ALL the work. The power and torque of the V8 is awesome. A huge increase in power.
