walkingman,

Good story. I bought my wife an 86 Montero shortly after we were married. We proceded to drive the heck out of it, too! SoCal to Arizona and around. When she was pregnant, she could not get in/out of it easily, and was sadly sold, but at least to some friends. They drove the heck out of it until the crank snapped. Then it was abandoned in the quarry. About 10 year fast forward, and we were relocating from SoCal to NorCal (Placerville), and I was looking for another little run-around truck for work. Recalling how well constructed the Montero was, I bought an 87 Monty, silver, really nice condition, and came to learn about this website. All well and good. I crashed the silver Monty , left a note on an 87 Dodge Raider, and purchased it in short order.

I've had the Raider about a year and a half, visit this website on a near daily basis, and have joined the Montero community here pretty solidly (I think). I currently have 4 Mitsus (2 Monteros/1 Raider/1 parts Raider). My Raider is a daily driver, when it doesn't need a transmission, and even still has not left me stranded. I wish for slightly more pwer from the engine and brakes , but all in good time.
