My engine will be ready to go tomorrow after its complete rebuild. The engine had a hole in the piston and the previous driver drove it for several thousand miles with it like this. So a lot of oil was coming out of the tail pipe. So do you think I need to change the cat and muffler? I don't want to have all this money in a rebuild, but still lack alot of power due to a clogged cat. Or do you think the oil will make no difference and probably burn out in a while??

50/50 shot...
I'd go with what you have, and if the oil in the cat doesn't burn out on it's own, then spring for a new one. Just expect a bit of smoke from the exhaust for a while.

Good point about the smoke, but that will bother me. Being I just rebuilt the engine, I want to see no smoke and everything working great. Now I will not know if it is the cat or the engine smoking <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

If you want to do it on the cheap, get a cat from one of the guys doing a part-out in our F/S section. Couple Toys getting torn down right now, or go to www.car-part.com to see what's lurking around in your local junkyards.

Oil will clog a cat, to the point it can start to bog down the engine.

if you dont have to have it inspected ,loose the cat.cat is an emission control, not a performance part.

Do you think oil in the muffler will cause a problem?? Also will taking the cat off cause my vehicle to be annoying and loud? Also will it cause any sensors to go off or any annoying lights, like on the new vehicles??

Please don't ride without the cat, The emissions thing is actually keeping people from getting asthma, and other nasty lung diseases. It's just irresponsible. Not having a cat can actually hurt performance and make your truck smell horrible. Exhaust that is too free flowing can prevent the manifold from getting hot, and slow the exhaust air down. Hot air moves faster. That is why people don't put huge diameter exhaust on a 22re.
Having a clogged cat can cause you exhaust manifold to over heat, warp, crack, etc.
