Body Damage is Cool
Looking for some info for a little project:

Was the Gen 1 Montero ever used by the Japanese military?
What is the Gen 1 Montero called in Japan?
What is the military designation for the Gen 1 Monero in Japan?
Does anyone have any photos of a Gen 1 in military use - in Japan or elsewhere?

Any help most appreciated.

Lee

That's good information but I already knew about the Pre-Montero Mitsu jeeps. I'm looking specifically for info on Gen 1 Monteros in military use.

I am told that small numbers were used in the first Gulf War -- anybody have any info?

Still would like any info on Gen 1 use in ANY military setting.

Thanks!

Lee

I remember seeing a pic a few years ago, I have no idea where to find it. I remember reading that they donated some for the Gulf War. And a long time ago, someone overseas posted on here he had an ex-mil one. They are called Pajeros over there.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

I think Pajeros have been used in many conflicts. I dont know about a full commissioning by a country though. I'm think more alon the lines of Somalian war lords cutting the tops off in favor of dual ak-47s.

When I was stationed in Germany, 91-96, they had a bunch of Pajeros in service in the Corps headquarters. These were all brought back from the 1st gulf war. All of them were GenII. Riding in those is what made me decide to buy my '92 and bring it back to the US with me.
