DesertTracker is right! Removing the front diff. is the easiest way to remove the oil pan. But I also recall needing to drop the steering linkage (tie-rods and pitman- arm) down off the frame and loosening both left and right side motor mount nuts to allow the engine to be lifted slightly to fully remove the oil pan.
