New to the scene, wondering about local clubs, owners, where to shop for parts, etc. any links, help would be greatly appreciated....I've got the bug, now I want to learn!

i have an '87 montero that failed the stupid air care with high HC and high CO. need some help figuring out what to do

2.6L, lots-n-lots `o miles, probably a few rebuilds/headgaskets recently?

not too sure about rebuild but it is burning a bit of oil.
I have only owned it for about a year. The owner before me ripped out the old carb and all the emission controls and slapped a new carb on. about 195miles

The burning oil will give you the high HC readings.
Try Castrol "10W-40 Deisel" (it's a bit better than thier 20W-50), and hope that slows it down a bit.
The CO is "usually" the cat worn out. (I think).

Is the "new" carb still a Mikuni, or did they go with a Weber/Etc ?
