Josh,
I'm confused...Are we talking about the front or the rear differential? I'm thinking front, because you stated you went to swap out the front diff. cover. I'm assuming that Randy's gave you a complete diff. up front, and that the carrier/housing would be all assembled and that if there were no bearings, the whole carrier/locker and ring gear would have fallen on your head during the installation
I'm coming into this cold, so lay out some history for me. I don't want Schaefer to have to dirty up those purple Nikes hoofing it on the trail this weekend, boy needs him a plush ride

How 'bout a $50 eBay TAP special that was supposed to be 4.88 and really is a 4.56?
I don't get how there's no bearings, but the R&P is "set-up". The bearings must be in the carrier, and shimmed between the body and bearings to set pattern. If it's just the seals though, they a snap.
Is swapping back to 4.10's possible for the weekend? You're welcome to look at my bag of parts... [ 05 June 2002, 10:28 PM: Message edited by: Wyatt ]

Like Jim said, if there are no bearings in the diff, the ring & pinion would be falling out. Which bearings do you think are missing? As for the seals, most parts stores should carry them.

I usually see his rig at his work in the afternoons. I didn't see it yesterday or today. Could be cuz he didn't get it together to drive. Don't know if he made it or not. Chris
