First projct of the year. Albeit a small one. I got some shackle tabs from A to Z Fabrication. Fast service and good price. I chose these because they are 1" thick and 3 1/2" wide which gives me 9" of weld area. Shackle tabs Tac'd ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.mac.com/zone1wst/.Pictures/wheelin/tabs1.jpg) Welding them on: Beads are starting to look halfway decent: ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.mac.com/zone1wst/.Pictures/wheelin/tabs2.jpg) All Done, adds a little bit to the bumper, but I'm still not done with it yet... ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.mac.com/zone1wst/.Pictures/wheelin/tabs3.jpg)

Here's what I did today with some experimenting with a Harbor Freight Pipe Bender that a friend lent me.. The Dies didn't quite fit right and I ended up wasting about 2 feet of tube. I think they were marked for ID pipe and not OD tube. But in the end it came out decent once I used a smaller die. I also picked up some metal for a Bumper I'm building for "plh". I'll chronicle that build in a separate thread. ![[Linked Image]](http://gallery.me.com/zone1wst/100010/bumperhoop1/web.jpg) I swept it forward just a bit so I can possibly mount lights to it. Not sure exactly how or if it will look right. I ran out of daylight. ![[Linked Image]](http://gallery.me.com/zone1wst/100010/bumperhoop2/web.jpg)

Testing a new way to post photos... Here's it done: ![[Linked Image]](http://gallery.me.com/zone1wst/100018/101_1969/web.jpg) Note the "Don" bumper on the white 90. That thing is built to survive a nuclear blast all 1/4" channel. I wanted a bit more approach angle, hence my pulled in design.

Looks great. Was it one of those hand-pump hydraulic tube benders?

Looks great. Was it one of those hand-pump hydraulic tube benders? Yea, It's a "hydraulic pipe bender" I believe the dies are made for bending galvanized pipe which is why they dont quite fit for bending tube. It got the job done but it wasnt too kind to the tube, leaving some little dents in it. looks like this: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.hydraulic-equipment-manufacturers.com/gifs/hydraulic-pipe-bender.jpg) I think I'm going to invest in a real bender soon. the bender isnt too bad but the dies are extra$$$. Keeping an eye out for a used one. Want to get one like this: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.medfordtools.com/benders/m3b/05.jpg)
