Biggest tyres on Stock Rims, no lift. #798717 03/20/07 09:59 AM

There's been many a person trying to find the answer to this with varied responses. The most common is 30x9.5 or 235/75. Before lashing out and buying a set I decided to try the 235/75R15 out first, albeit a bald one.

looks pretty gnarly compared to the 205's. From full lock to full lock, no rubbing, even with a little reticulation. Not fully off road tested but good enough for me. When I get my tax money in 3 months, 5 new tyres going on!
The only bit that seemed close was the front inner guard...

..but it still has an inch or so to play with.
Hope it helps some of the newcomers.

P.S. I recommend that nobody tries to change tyres using a tyre lever and screwdriver. Much easier letting the guys at the tyre service do it, plus you get less cuts on your hand

I've had 235/75s for 3 years (coopers M/Ts) and only hit them once or twice that I can think of and I'am always 4wheelin Its a great size for stock rigs,But I've yet to see a 235/ tire thats 30"s,,,29.5,29.7, but not 30"s

What tyres are you planning on buying? I'm looking into SAVERO M/T's. Only problem is that they are not available in 30-9.50's. So need to know the following:
Anyone running 31-10.50's on stock rims? If so, will the 1 3/8" lift, some minor trimming, and seam flattening work with the 31-10.50 tires if they fit on stock rims? Not into heavy 4x4'n but bottomed out 3x on my last hunting trip. Want the extra ground clearance.

Next question, are stock GEO TRACKER rims the same size as stock Sportage wheels?

Thanks for any help.

Cheapest I can get. I found a guy who sells 2nd hand import tyres with 50%+ tread Don't know what brand yet but they aren't full off road treads, just dual purpose. Can get 4, maybe 5 tyres for the cost of two new ones, so why not?
