Redwolf1974- is 1974 the year you were born? Anyways- If you look at the last question in this forum its mine. I'm currently running into the same problem of finding interchangabilty information. The best way I find these answers are by cross referencing part and model #'s of similar engines. In your case I think I'd look into the 1.6 16v instead looking at changing the displacement. When changing from the 1.6 to a 1.8 I think the blocks are completely different, "I could be wrong". When the blocks are different this usually mean you need to change motor mounts, exhaust parts, and possibly cooling parts like the radiator, fan or shroud. Also you may need worry about the trans. connecting up. If you want to change out both the engine and trans I think I would look for a 1992-1998 1.6 16v coupled to a 4sp auto trans.
