Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hello all!

I've been lurking here for the past year. There's so much good info that I've linked threads to other T sites. Great site!

I picked up my '97 T-100 SR5 X-tra cab 3.4 4 X 4 automatic last March. Got it from a retiree who pampered it. 102K miles, two tone grey & black. It's got the sport buckets with center console and a paint matched Jeraco cap. I love this truck. I wish I had the sense to look at one of these before I bought my '03 Tacoma, but I wanted something brand new. I'd been nursing along my '86 standard (hilux) Toy 4 X 4 fot the last 15 years. I'd practically replaced every part on that truck including a factory bed in '99. The T suits my need much better.

I just picked up a new factory one-piece tail/muffler a few weeks ago. Last week the check engine light came on. Autozone dude says it's the upstream 02 sensor. I crawled under and found the nuts on each sensor are nothing more than amorphous blobs of rust on each stud. No problem. I got a full donut set and I'll pull the whole exhaust down including the front pipe and deal with them off the truck.

My first question is this: Does anyone know the correct Denso part #s for each 02 sensor and where they belong? So far I've found #s 234-4153 & 234-4162. The thing is, I'm getting conflicting info on which part goes where, before or after the cat, and even different part #'s. URD's site has different info than oxygensensors.com. URD's rep was unsure also. He thought that I needed (2) 234-4162. Denso's site is a bit confusing. BTW, I've limited my search to direct fit only.

Also, is there any way to clean my MAF? It's the one piece unit, looks like a jet engine. The sensor seems to be riveted in. Can I just spray electrical cleaner in and swoosh it around?

Thanks!
Rich

The correct part numbers are at www.sparkplugs.com for the denso or NGK O2 sensors.

Yes you can spray MAF cleaner in there and make sure its dry before you start it.

Very nice truck..

Tundra solutions had a T100 forum, no one visits it. Same with yotatech..

Here is the best T100 forum, period.. I kinda wish they had just left them in production and added the LC V8 in there.

Thanks CJ,

That site shows that I should've got 2 4162s. I ended up getting a 3153 and a 4162. Brian wasn't quite positive, though pretty sure about the 4162s, and I took a gamble based on the Toyota parts counter guy insisting that they were different. Oh well, I'm a dick on this one. Hopefully URD will let me swap it for the right one. At least I should be able to pass inspection next week with the front sensor only.

heres the CHART from URD, there are different numbers for front and rear depending on your truck

96 T100 4x4 - 35's, 4" SL, 2" BL, 4.88s, ARBs, custom bumper & E9000 winch, etc.
99 F-350 4x4 superduty supercab turbodiesel longbed

That's where the confusion came from, the chart. Based on my vehicle, it says I need a 4153 and a 4162 as I read it. Yet the rep at URD *thought* it was *probably* (2) 4162s. Other sites say the same thing. A poster here used (2) 4162s with sucess so that's what I'll do. It would've paid for me to have more patience and find out for sure before I had them ship, now it may cost me. The kicker is that I paid for express mail! It'll be yet another lesson learned. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

IIRC, I used the two different ones when I changed mine. I went by the chart and never talked to anyone about it. They work fine. Good luck
