I looked and didnt find anything so sorry if it has been posted before, I have another project in mind with the 3.0L VR-4 Twin Turbo, but the problems is time... So.. with that said, I am wondering if just go ahead and decide to rebuild the motor, or should I say, Have the mitsubishi place(Which I do not believe they will rebuild the motor) and if they will not and I have to find a trusted shop( Yes, I know depends on where I go) what would be an Estimate or a round figure, on have someone else rebuild the motor for me, I just really don't have a whole lot of time to spend on the monty and when I am off, my wife and kids would appreciate if I would spend it with them. I thought I'd might get a quick round figure before I hunt for a shop to get figures, The motor of course is fine except I havent had the Valve stem seals replaced yet, I thought since I have the money to do it now, I would go ahead and have it re-built while I have the money to do it!......Thx

Is there a problem with the engine? If not, just drive it until it needs a rebuild.
Expect to pay ~$3,000 for a full rebuild using quality parts. If it only needs a top end rebuild, that's a considerable savings - but a lot depends on mileage and general condition.

I can give you a part of an answer.
I just spent right at $1000 on rebuilding the heads, plus a head gasket set, water pump (front and back halves), all the hoses, all the belts all the serp. belt idler pulleys, and a new timing belt tensioner set, and I did all the labor. Head machine work was over $400 of that total. Light surface cut, 3 angle valve job, 1 new valve, 2 new valve springs, remove 4 broken studs. And a new thermostat and coolant temp sensor for the ecu.
I'd adjust that some up since you have twice as many valves...
Not responsible for advice not taken...

I think he's talking about rebuilding the '90 Montero engine.... 12 valves.
