I'm not totally sure that 26mm snap rings are the only way to do this...



the one on the left is the 26mm snap ring in place among the splines,

but the one on the right seems like an equally effective way - the reason i am wondering about it is that my hubs came with a washer the exact right size, like the yellow one in this picture.

And, in my original post i asked about a spacer thing - that's depicted in blue in this image.

Anyone know if there's a reason not to do it that way? Anyone know about the spacer (blue in this image for visibility) ?
