91, 22re, 4wd, 5 speed, going after the clutch. Do I need to remove the crossmember to get to those flange bolts right above it, nearly no room to work there. I'm using a Chiltons manual and it sucks. I was hoping to find a complete write-up somewhere on the internet. Do I really have to raise the vehicle off the floor to drop the tranny. I'm just in the early stages here trying to finish loosening everything up. Do I also have to unbolt the exhaust from the manifold?
Yes you have to take the X-member to get the tranny out. I took my exhaust off, gave me more room to work. At the top of this page ther is a link to the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for a 93, same difference.
