Correct, I swapped the entire knuckle over. The result was LOTS of positive camber and LOTS of toe out. You might be able to shim the upper arm to correct for the camber, but you'll lose down travel since the pivot will be inside the frame.

I think it would be safe to say that you could bolt a gen 2 rotor to a gen 1 hub, but I can't speak for the caliper. Calipers might swap between the V6 knuckles, but not the 4 cyl that I have.

Its hard to make out the stock 4cyl knuckle on the driver's since its in the shade, but the steering wheel is centered.

I just want to swap calipers onto my gen1.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

OK So it looks like lordtrunks confirmed the Front brake calipers from a Gen 2 will swap over with brake line modification. This most likely only applies to 6 cyl gen 1's.

Sorry to hear about your tranny <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Did you see in the parts bin, a guy in MS has a tranny he's trying to sell?
Good to see this thread. The one I started is apparently too narrow in scope. There is alot more interest in figuring what all parts will retro into GenI's from GenII donors.

Confirmed swap: Gen 2 Locking Rear axle Assembly Complete into 89V6 Auto SWB

Donor: 96SR

Direct bolt in. Use the SR Diff side flange Yoke and U-joint and mate it to the gen1 driveshaft. Use the Swaybar off the gen 1 if you want to retain it.

Benefits: rear disk brakes, Larger(stronger) axles and diff, Locker.

Get the factory locker pump from the donor vehicle to actuate the locker. Get the drive shaft as well in order to get the Yoke.

Cons: axle is 3" wider so tires will stick out an inch and a half farther on the side but is hardly noticable.

Swap in Gen 2 coil spring at the same time if desired..

As it pertains to the tires protruding farther out, does this have any pro's/con's on or off road?

Some say that its a pro in the mud as the back tires have a fresh track to grip as opposed to the front, but at an inch and a half I would say that the benifit would probably be negligable.

Any noticeable handling change attributable to the wider rear axle?

I assume off road it will keep it a bit more stable.

Keep in mind that my 3.5 SR auto to 90 3.0 manual required driveline modifications.
