I'd like to do some of these suspention beef ups from Gen II parts. My concern, because mine's a D.D., is the --effects on handling-- with the wider rear track on my SWB.

OK So it looks like lordtrunks confirmed the Front brake calipers from a Gen 2 will swap over with brake line modification. This most likely only applies to 6 cyl gen 1's.

For clarification, this is the hard lines only? Are the hoses the same? I'm replacing my hoses when I do the switch with a set that is a couple inches longer, in preparation for a body lift And, can I just replace the calipers and pads? Or am I the guinea pig on this I'm trying to get it done without replacing my rotors (less than 5k on em) Any input to firm this up?

The hoses dont go through the body so adding longer hoses in preperation for a body lift will be of no benefit. Hard lines pass through the body connect to hose at a bracket on the frame (top of shock mount) then on the A arm and from there connect to a nother hard line at a bracket on the caliper. since the hoses dont pass through the body you will gain nothing with a longer hose. Gently bend the hard line where it passes through the body to accomodate the body lift.

The short hard line at the caliper is what Lordrunks is refering to. If you get the hard lines from the donor rig it should be a bolt on swap.

Just went out to my Monty and took a peek, for reference. I understand the short hard line at the caliper. Am I understanding correctly that longer hoses are not necessary or beneficial when doing a body lift? I'm a bit confused on this, been years since my last body lift. But I was thinking that the brake lines/hoses are attached somewhere on the body. So, if you go up with the body, won't you need longer brake lines/hoses

What Im saying is the Hard lines pass through the body and they have to be gently bent in order to center them in the hole in the inner fender. The hoses (or soft lines) dont connect to the body at any point.

Ok, read the archived post about the body lift AGAIN for the millionth time. So, by reposting the link to that thread, is that a no to longer brake line/hoses? Because a few lines down from the original post, it says be sure to disconnect the fuel line support bracket. Isn't the fuel system also connected to the body and the frame? What about the fuel filler neck? Is there slack or does it need to be lengthened?

Maybe you should start a new thread with all of your body lift questions so we could try and stay remotely on topic?
