Screw it. Guess I'm on my own on this one, then. Eh, I'll figure it out. When I do, if anyone wants to know, start your own thread

Didn't somebody swap a '97-'99 Montero Sport rear locker axle with disc brakes and leaf springs into a Gen. 1 SWB with leafs?
Too many 4x4's, not enough time or money

When I do, if anyone wants to know, start your own thread There are plenty here that will help you with whatever questions you have about your planned body lift. Many here have done it so no, your not on your own. This is just not the thread for that topic. As stated in the title and the first post of this thread, It was meant to be a Quick reference for Gen 1/2 Compatible Parts. Thanks. I'm just trying to keep it on track.

Now to get some what back on topic..Here's a comparison between Gen 1 and 2 trailing arms. Gen 2 arm is on the bottom Thicker areas are circled. Other than that they are the same and interchangeable. I've yet to see a gen 2 arm break, but thats not to say it cant happen. ![[Linked Image]](http://homepage.mac.com/zone1wst/.Pictures/wheelin/tarms.jpg)

I was trying to stay on topic. I wasn't getting a clear answer. When doing the brake swap, it's the perfect time to make any other changes that will be necessary for future modifications. If you don't know, don't post a response. And, in a web forum, when the thread is archived, Moderators make adjustments and edit the text of the thread for clarity. Your solution was to post somebody else's thread, which is telling of the fact that you don't have first-hand experience on the issue. If my question could have been answered by someone who had actually done this modification, it would have saved alot of unnecessary typing on both our parts. I'm not really trying to be an I just had one question and needed one answer. And, as far as starting another thread, I did. Then, you started this one, which is broader in scope. The thread that I started was specific to a GenII to GenI front brake swap. But then everybody hopped on over here to this post, so I tried to get my questions answered here.

And I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have that havent been already been covered. Just not in this thread(BTW this thread was started 3 months prior to yours). I dont want to turn this thread into a Pi$$ing contest so this will be my last response to you on this subjuct. Thanks So uh.....guys how bout those trailing arms..

Ok, my apologies. I wasn't trying to start problems. I got my questions answered, thank you for that, Justice. Again, I apologize for being out of line and getting off topic so much. If I have any questions on the body lift, I'll be sure to start another thread for any answers I may need at that time as well as preserving continuity in this thread. Moving right along
The trailing arms look WAY stronger. These can be done without swapping the 3rd member, correct?

Sorry I guess I'm getting grouchy in my old age..yes you can change these out and retain the same axle housing and 3rd member. the one part you will need to retain from the gen 1 (if a SWB) are the rubber bushings at where the arms connect to the frame. The long wheelbase bushings appear to be the same from gen 1 to gen 2 but I have not confirmed this.
