the OBDI electronic diagnosis used the TECH 1 and of course it was nothing like the consumer versions available for one and all for the 1996-> OBDII. The TECH 1 was from Vetronix (OTC?) and was (is) a complete deal with vehicle specific software program modules, adapters, etc. and reads the autotransmission codes too. and they not only read codes, but provide much more detailed data and with control features as well. and VERY pricey. (i want one)

the TECH 2 is the current configuration for OBDII.
