Hi all, I have a 1980 toyota 4x4 that I have been wavering as to whether or not I will be fixing it up and I think I have decided that I will fix it. I started a week or so ago and have stalled a little bit (it's me not the truck)

I am replacing the engine and when I pulled the 20R it just slid out nice and easy like but now the new engine (a 1983 22R) will not mate up just right, I think I have the splines lined up but I'm not certain, it is sitting about 3/4" out from the bell housing and doesn't seem to want to go any further, I haven't resorted to tightening the bolts to draw the engine in yet (I didn't want to resort to violence). Should I put it in gear and turn the engine with a breaker to get the shaft to lign up without moving? Any help would be great.

thanks
