I don't have a winch, but I am going to figure out a way to mount the Hi-Lift inside...there is barely enough room for it horizontally between the front seats and the rear door in that shorty RS.

Cut the handle down some, you don't need all that.

The handle isn't any longer than the main strut...it is just a 48" model but the RS is 17" shorter than a 4-door...it'll fit but not a lot to spare.

I would look at Matt's spare tire mount for the hi-lift. I really enjoy mine.

Naw, I'm not gonna load up that door any more than it already is with a 35" tire on it...

If it's a 4' hi-lift you can mount it inside, on the floor, across the back, parallel with the rear bumper. I pulled the screw that holds the little "C ring" in the left back corner and then got one a little longer w/ the same threads. Then you can put the bolt w/ a large washer thru one of the holes in the top of the hi-lift and bolt it down to the floor. Let me know if you want a picture.

See ya, Rick W.

Not a bad idea, except for the poaching of floor space...I plan to mount it on brackets on the side above the wheel well so it is out of the way.

I made my own the same way and due to it just annihilated my rear tailgate and it got my tub as well this last weekend..........a little over $500.00 damage. Dropped of a ledge, caught the jack base, pushed it and the spare against the glass and tub and nothing is left but the crying.

Yeah, I'm a little worried about my spare tire that way...with less backspacing it sits out off of the door further and might be vulnerable in extreme situations...

Well, I compromised with myself this morning. I have been planning to design and build a new cross-member. I am simply running out of time, so this morning I took my cut-off wheel to the cross cross member.

I have to make two, most likely three trips to Oregon in the next month on family issues, so I am running out of work days. Too, my truck is 20+ miles from the welder, so the testing and fitting was going to eat up unavailable chunks of time.

I will finish up the cross-member next Wednesday when I can go to my buddy's house to use the welder.
