Need a Spot
I know this may have been touched but I need a straight forward short answer. Who has a 2.6 Gen I and 33s. How does it run, did you have to regear, etc? I am on 31s right now and if I change to a weber and get my monty running good I want to go with 33s.

Body Damage is Cool
I run 33's on both of my 2.6 Raiders. I can cruise at 80 no problem. But I have an extra 100 hp.
They will fit without a lift, But I would put a two inch body lift on it. The weber carb might help. But you will probably not see 80 or even fifth gear on a hill.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

I ran 33s with a 2.6, a bad carb, and at high altitude (no lower that 5,280 feet) for almost a year. It definitely sucked on the highway but they were great on the trail.

Since then I've got a good carb and I've re-geared to 5.29 diff gears. Runs great on the highway now and hills are no problem. I can stay in 5th gear on most hills and can accelerate in 4th. Even on the approach to Eisenhower tunnel - which is a 7% grade over 11,000 feet - I can climb that in 3rd gear and it's not much trouble.

I'm considering moving up to 35s when my current set of 33s wears out.

If you keep the stock gearing and just simply ensure you have a good running carb you should still be able to get around okay on 33s.

Thanks alot, that answers most of my question. Now, my carb is running like crap which is why I'm going with a weber but my motor is freshly rebuilt with a new head. Where can I get 5.29 gears? Also, mine is an automatic, so does that change anything?

Be prepared to pay a lot for them. They're not cheap.

EDIT: BTW...if you live in California and you put on a Weber, don't plan on passing emissions.
