If someone were to wire up these lil LED lights under the hood, how would one do it? Is it that simple?

They just have 2 wires.....a power and ground...they have the resistor already built into the wiring......I might just do that on the engine compartment with one...One would be more than bright enough to light up under there....

Body Damage is Cool
No way you're going to break an LED, they're embedded in epoxy and are practically impervious to vibration.

You can run these over, spray them with gravel, probably even shoot them with a bb gun and they'd be fine. No glass to break, no filament to burn out or vibrate to death, no worries of water getting into the glass. I can run these all night long with the engine off and I can still start up in the morning. They also seem to attract fewer bugs than normal lights.

I've got 8 LEDs under my truck for a total of about $35.

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

It depends on what kind you get. LEDs need around 3V, any more than that and you'll toast them. Some over the counter LEDs come with resisters in them to reduce the voltage. I made mine from scratch and went a little more sophisticated and used a current regulator IC chip.

There are a ton of websites showing how to calculate the resistor needed for LEDs.
