i pay about $1200 every six months to insure my truck and my integra gsr. the truck only adds around $100 to the bill for liability only. My integra has comprehensive but not collision and that adds up for the other $1100 or so. being 19, and having a "sports car" as geico calls it isn't cheap lol. i do have maxed out coverage at $300,000 across the board though.

In north Toronto Ontario (Ontario is no fault and Toronto proper is a high risk compared to where I live in the north burbs)I pay for my 87 extra cab $110/month CAN$.
I'm 50 years old no coupons from the police and no bang ups in the last 30 years. My wifes 2007 Ford Escape 4x4 with collision and liability is $180/month. By the way my Toyota is 4x4 as well with liability only. So here in the Toronto area State Farm rather not insure an 87 Toyota PU but rather insure a 2007 $30,000 SUV for $70 more with collision incase the wife smashes it.

I insure my truck with full coverage, its an 89. I have 1/2 a million in liability, and a 1000 deductible for collision and a 250 deductible for comprehensive. I figure I am paying a load if I do something stupid, but If my truck gets stolen I am only out $250.
My wife has a 2004 Matrix with similar coverage. Altogether it is around $85 a month for both.

My wife is in the military, so we can use USAA, which spanked State Farm for rates.

Oh, I am 35 she is under 30, and neither of have ever had a ticket (ever) or a wreck in the last 10 years.

I pay $94/mo for full coverage on the 4R; Ol' Blue about $50/mo for liability and uninsured motorist (around 20% in Alaska).

Downside of liability only is if you hit a moose/deer, it's considered to be COLLISION, so they won't take care of you.

Screw State Farm, esp after their pathetic response to the Gulf Region.

I expected prices in places like California to be higher than they appear to be. It looks like competition from big companies like GEICO, AIG and Progressive has actually lowered rates in the last 12 years or so. Back in the day, it was State Farm, AllState, AAA or Farmers. I remember when I first tried to get insurance in CA, in 1985, it seemed like they weren't even sure if they wanted my business. Glad things have changed for the better. -- matt

I think all insurance companies screwed the hurricane victims. Only State Farm got the most bad press and had the better reputation.
