Vehicle: 1996 isuzu rodeo The angled pieces on to of the fuel pump/sending unit rusted and cracked, and caused gas to fly everywhere. I dropped the tank and the screws holding it on are so rusted, after making the screw heads visible again they just too soft to use. Where can I get a new tank for this? What years will work? Approx cost? Thanks guys. pics: ![[Linked Image]](http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d16/xtremeaaron/tank1.png) ![[Linked Image]](http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d16/xtremeaaron/tank2.png)

No need for a new tank. Just pop those screw heads off. They are soft and should come off with a cold chisel. Drill them out if they do not cooperate. Drill the remainder out of the tank and chase the threads. Who knows, some may come out with a screwdriver. Just remember to clean the tank out well.
As for the pump bracket, just get someone to braze a new elbow on there. You should be good to go.
Good Luck, Michael

Ugh -- I have been there and done that. No fun. Michael is right that the screw heads will pop off pretty easily with a chisel, but removing the threaded portion from the remainder is gonna be no fun.
I bought a new tank from a recycler in Rancho Cordova at 888-944-7898, apparently they do a pretty good business in rusted out tanks. Any tank should work from 1996 and earlier Rodeos or Amigos. I paid $75, but it was cash-and-carry, and a pretty good deal.

Can you get a pair of vise-grips on them and unscrew them that way? I've had decent luck before doing that with screws that I've totally buggered up the head beyond recognition. Another option is the screw-outs. I've also got a set of them somewhere around. Need to find them again. Sears - Screw-Outs Richard

I will virtually guarantee that vice grips will just rip the heads off. Been There, Done That (BTDT). No harm really in doing so, but expect failure.
Drain the gas -- that's almost $20 bucks right there!
